Dull and Tired Skin? How About a DermaplaningTreatment ?

Epidermal Leveling, also known as Dermaplaning is a physical exfoliation of the skin that resurfaces sun-damaged, dull, dehydrated skin. Dermaplaning is performed by using a surgical blade that gently scrapes the outermost layers of the epidermis, therefore, ridding it of dead skin cells, impurities and debris. The complexion is left smooth, soft and vibrant. Makeup goes on more evenly and product penetration is boosted.

An extra benefit of dermaplaning is the removal of “peach fuzz” or vellus hair which is the fine, transparent hair that covers the face. Such factors such as genetics and hormonal issues make it more apparent in some individuals. Removal of the hair in this manner does not make it come in thicker, darker or coarser.
After dermaplaning a layer of 2% lactic acid may be applied to hydrate and further exfoliate the skin or a mild glycolic acid to control oil and blemishes.

Dermaplaning is an alternative for patients that do not wish to have mechanical exfoliation such as microdermabrasion or aggressive chemical peels. Most people find that spacing the treatment out every 4-6 weeks gives them the best results since it takes 28 – 30 (longer as we age!) days for our skin cells to turnover. The perfect candidate would be someone who would like to address the sun-spots, fine lines and dull, dry skin we experience as we age.
