Worms didn’t cause your Ringworm!

Posted on 28. Apr, 2009 by in Rashes

Let me first tell everyone that ringworm is not caused by a worm.  It is a fungal infection.

The main characterized are red and scaly ring-shaped patches that have a clear or normal looking center. Ringworm occurs mainly on the upper body, genital area, hands or on your feet.  Although, it is usually called athlete’s foot when found on your feet.   It can be very uncomfortable due to the extreme itch.

Ringworm is  easy to treat.  Most of the times your dermatologist will prescribe an antifungal cream or ointment.   Your fingerails  or toenails are more resistant to ringworm treatment and may require more extensive treatments.
